Meet Alan A. Wheat.

I'm a retired educator and organizational leader based in Crestwood, Missouri. I created OwnerFocus to keep doing work I enjoy: helping people make sense of complicated situations, work through unfinished tasks, and move forward with less on their shoulders.

My career with the Special School District of St. Louis County spanned more than 26 years. I began as a special education teacher, moved into coordination and director roles, and served as Chief of Student Services from 2014 until my retirement in 2026. My work brought together people, records, staffing, deadlines, and services across multidisciplinary teams and partner districts.

Along the way, I helped improve intake and records processes, develop workload models, and turn operational information into useful Power BI dashboards. As AI Coordinator, I supported practical guidance, training concepts, and responsible use of emerging tools. I hold an Education Specialist degree in Educational Administration from Southwest Baptist University, along with master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Missouri–St. Louis.

That experience taught me to listen carefully, break a large problem into manageable steps, explain things clearly, and follow through. Those habits are just as useful when a business owner is buried in administrative work as when a homeowner is overwhelmed by everything that needs doing before a sale.

I'm also handy and enjoy home improvement and practical, hands-on work. Through OwnerFocus, I combine that side of myself with my experience organizing information and coordinating tasks. I can help with suitable home preparation projects, practical estate-related tasks under the authorized person's direction, and the business “time vampires” that keep pulling an owner away from other priorities.

Retirement gives me the opportunity to choose useful work at a manageable pace. You'll work directly with me, and I'll be open about what I can do, what it will cost, and when someone else would be a better fit.
